rules of the game
This blog has been created to continue our conversation beyond the brick-and-mortar classroom. Since blogging differs from other writing assignments, and because your work here is public, here are some specific things to keep in mind:
- Contribute comments and questions that advance the discussion. Simply agreeing or disagreeing with your classmates and/or the readings is not enough. You are expected to add constructive ideas to the debate by engaging with the texts in a sophisticated manner.
- Read and comment on each other’s ideas. Take advantage of the blog’s ability to create a network of shared knowledge.
- Always be thoughtful and fair. All the rules of in-class conversation apply here as well; therefore, civility and mutual respect are expected at all times.
- Don’t plagiarize. If you’re borrowing ideas or language from other sources, identify and link sources whenever feasible.
- Be as concise as possible. The format of blogging requires you to be brief, direct, and clear. As a rule, restrict your new posts or comments to 250 words.
- Write each entry as if it cannot be changed or revised. That way, you’ll avoid rambling, ranting, or otherwise inappropriate blogging.
- Participate actively. You’re required to post at least ten times over the course of the semester, but I hope you’ll have a lot more to say than that.
Although I will provide weekly prompts, you are free to use this site for any other reflections on remakes, Bollywood cinema, transnational media flows, and so on.
